From the rugged mountains of Western North Carolina to the remote coastal backroads of the east, the North Carolina Traverse is a 7-day overland and adventure moto expedition designed to showcase why North Carolina is truly an adventurer’s paradise.

This journey will begin in Murphy, North Carolina on the morning of August 7th, 2026, where participants will gather before heading east across one of the most geographically diverse and scenic states in the country. Over the course of 988 miles, we’ll explore winding mountain passes, remote forest roads, rolling farmland, hidden small towns, river crossings, coastal plains, and everything in between. Plans are to complete The NCT on August 14th at Corolla NC (OBX)

North Carolina offers something few places can — the ability to experience towering Appalachian mountains and Atlantic coastal landscapes all within a single adventure. The Traverse was created to connect travelers with the incredible backroads, campsites, communities, and landscapes that make this state unforgettable.

Every day on the route will bring new terrain, new scenery, and new experiences. Our nightly stopping points will be determined by the group’s pace and progress throughout the day, embracing the flexibility and spirit of true overland travel. Whether you join us for the full week-long expedition or only part of the route, the North Carolina Traverse is built around adventure, community, and exploration.
